Blogging after years

I used to be a medium active blogger back in the time when I was working in WSO2. It was a hobby of many of my friend then and many were technology enthusiasts.

After being in WSO2 for 9 years, in 2016, I moved to more of management track to a subsidiary within Axiata group, who used WSO2 APIM for their APIM governance and monetization solution. Got exposed to whole lot of new learnings and a great management exposure. I was able to use lots of experience and knowledge from WSO2's culture, practices and the product knowledge. However, I forgot something. I didn’t make any time for my writing. If not for that I would have been able to capture each and every learning opportunity in my posts to read later or even may find out someone else following them too.

Since 2016 for 4 years, I was very lucky to have to operate in same kind of open culture and flat org structures at WSO2.Telco and Apigate. Not only that I got regular interaction and was able build friendships with South Asian colleagues within the Axiata group of operators. I saw how the WSO2 APIM stack was in business. WSO2.Telco, Apigate were a great mix of IT and business teams effort.

However by end of 2019, Apigate Sri Lanka business was merged to group’s IT arm — Axiata Digital Labs. ADL, despite its friendly atmosphere is a very hierarchical organization. It has more of project culture. Everything has a plan and measured. Every employee has a development plan and a scoring against it. Everyone has KPIs set. You get many meetings.

Not a big fan, but again being a personality who gets excited over new learnings, I am learning. Actually my learning started from point 0, where I started getting familiar with MS Excel (instead google sheets) for various reports and trend analysis, outlook (instead of gmail) and doing more formatted, tabulated mails Vs to just share message mode. Then shot up to harder streams such as P&L, BP, Product roadmap, CSAT. I am not an expert on any of these yet. Its a whole bunch of challenges that excites you as well as stresses you at the same time. I am trying to stay excited and I want to start writing here, my new experiences from today onwards.
